Arhus (also known as Aarhus) is an lively town with many cultural attractions on offer, both for locals and guests. It is surrounded by rolling countryside picturesque villages, grand castles and clean beaches. Almost all types of art and culture are represented here. A lively market town at The Old Town, amusements at the Tivoli Friheden, concerts at the impressive Concert Hall, and art exhibitions at the Moesgård Museum of prehistory are some of the main attractions. The most well-known cultural event is the annual Århus Festival, one of the most comprehensive cultural arrangements in Northern Europe. The Festival takes place during the first week of September and offers more than 300 different arrangements from opera, theatre and classical music, to video art, rock music and street performances.
