At the furthest end of the Caribbean diaspora, Trinidad and Tobago is possibly the region’s best kept secret. Populated from each of the four corners of the world, the country is a melting pot of ethnicities and cultures. This has resulted in a remarkable diversity and is reflected by an abundance of creative talent, which is best known for Carnival, steel pan and calypso. The country’s diversity is also evident when it comes to its cuisine – different cultural influences combine with the exotic seasonings and spices of the West Indies to create an exceptional, mouth watering menu. There’s also an abundance of festivals throughout the year. Carnival a season of festivities commencing after Christmas and culminating in a massive street parade on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, is the most famous. Deep sea diving is popular on both islands, and diving is big on Tobago. Ecotourism, soft-adventure, and other nature based activities are second to none in the region. Both islands possess an amazing array of beaches from secluded coves to huge crescents surrounded by hills tumbling dramatically to the sea. Sporting opportunities include cricket, golf, football, rugby, field hockey and more.
