Set in picture postcard scenery at the end of the Aurlandsfjord, a southern branch of the huge Sognefjord; Flaam boasts one of the most spectacular railway journeys in Europe, ascending over 3,000 feet to ancient town of Voss and affording magnificent views over the valley. During the eleventh century, a cross was erected in Voss to celebrate the region's new Christianity. Flaam marks the innermost point of the famous Sognefjord region and makes the perfect starting point from which to explore its stunning scenery.
