Cruising is a holiday the whole family can enjoy, and with the facilities on board specifically geared towards families and children, they are surpassing those that will be found at any land based resort.
P&O Cruises offer family friendly cruises onboard: Aurora, Azura, Oriana, Oceana and Ventura. These superliners were made to cater for family enjoyment and with that in mind The Reef – a child and teenagers programme was created.
The clubs are split into 4 separate age groups:- Splashers age 2-4, Surfers age 5-8, Scubas age 9-12 and H²O 13-17 and are organised by well qualified 'Reef Rangers' who have extensive training and experience in planning a wide range of age specific play and leisure activities. Including a Circus school and DJ's mixing station on Ventura.
Children are welcome on all Princess cruise ships and most have dedicated youth centres for children aged 3 to 17 to enjoy a varied schedule of supervised activities There's a play area and special outdoor deck exclusively for toddlers. Princess Pelicans, ages 3 to 7, Shockwaves, ages 8 to 12 and Remix, designed for teens aged 13 to 17.
However, it's not only the kids clubs that make a family holiday, dining doesn't need to be a long drawn out affair, on P&O's family cruise holidays there is a special children's tea every night featuring all the food that children will enjoy, in addition to the many healthy options available. And with Princess Youth and Teen program, junior cruisers will also participate in two special dinner evenings designed for each age group. Younger passengers will enjoy dinner without parents and in the company of newfound friends and counselors in one of their ship's many eateries. For teens, one of the two evenings will feature a formal get-together in one of the main dining rooms, complete with photographs and a group night out to enjoy many Princess evening offerings.
Staterooms also are well equipped for the needs of the whole family. Many have additional beds which will either be folding down from the ceiling or sofa beds.
One of the attractions of cruise holidays are the shore excursions, and there are a whole range of tours designed especially for families, meaning your time ashore will be as stress free as the rest of your holiday. With arranged transport, entrance fees and English speaking guides, all you need do is turn up and enjoy your time together.
