2018 P&O Cruises Food Heroes Sailings

When you pick up a brochure for a cruise line it’s a given there will be plenty of boasting about cuisine. For many people, sea cruises are a long day’s journey into dinner, undoubtedly the main event of the day. As the mealtimes roll relentlessly past, the captain delivers a number of countries to the side of the ship. Passengers sailing aboard P&O Cruises’ Azura, Britannia and Ventura can enjoy The Epicurean where fresh, seasonal British ingredients are presented to achieve maximum flavour. With a nod to molecular cuisine, the P&O Cruises’ team of Executive Chefs have come up with a menu that can be understood without a degree in pretension. 

One culinary fad that’s been increasingly flaunted by cruise lines are ‘food festivals’ where the emphasis is on epicurean delights as much as idyllic destinations. This on-trend concept not only ensures the cuisine goes up a notch or two, guest chefs revel in this schmooze-fest by talking shop and sharing a laugh, while many ports of call lend themselves to culinary explorations. 

P&O Cruises’ ‘Food Heroes’ cruises celebrate the best of British cuisine. Among the brightest lights of the British culinary scene, each ‘Food Hero’ creates an exciting array of dishes to suit all tastes. These cruises feature masterclasses, book signings, interviews and exclusive hosted dinners. There will also be the opportunity to join the chefs on a gastronomic shore excursion. 

The undisputed godfather of British cooking, Marco Pierre White has also created the gala menus across the P&O Cruises’ fleet. He will be on six cruises that all set sail from Southampton aboard various ships in the P&O Cruises’ fleet including Azura, Britannia and Ventura. 

Fresh from his recent ‘James Martin’s French Adventure’ programme on ITV, James will be aboard P&O Cruises’ flagship Britannia for a 14-night cruise setting sail on 16 March which departs from Barbados and calls at the delightful Caribbean islands of Dominica; St Maarten; and Tortola; before heading across the Atlantic bound for Ponta Delgada in the Azores then on to Southampton.
