AMAmagna Debut

AMAmagna Debut

AmaWaterways revolutionary new ship AmaMagna has made her debut sailing from Vilshofen in Germany to Budapest, the stunning capital of Hungary. This river titan is the same length, height and draft as the line's other vessels, but at 72 feet it is twice as wide. This much-anticipated ship is now sailing on the Danube – the only river in Europe where a vessel of such proportions can operate. AmaMagna’s itineraries include ‘Romantic Danube’, ‘Melodies of the Danube’ and ‘Christmas Markets on the Danube’.

Kristin Karst, Executive Vice-President and Co-Founder of AmaWaterways was aboard the maiden voyage and commented, “The delighted reactions of our guests when they embarked on this cruise are genuinely rewarding. With the choice of four distinct dining venues, five bars, elegant lounges and exceptional accommodation, AmaMagna has been designed for those seeking a fresh, contemporary and dynamic take on river cruising.  This beautiful ship has a direct appeal to ocean cruisers, who are accustomed to the luxury of expansive personal space and a wide variety of leisure activities during their holiday.”

Whilst AmaMagna is twice the width of traditional river cruise ships, it welcomes only 20 percent more guests, allowing generous personal space - with more than half of the 98 staterooms designated as suites measuring between 355 and 710 sq. ft.  All staterooms and suites are appointed with stylish décor and natural wood accents. The suites feature full outside balconies, open seating areas and luxurious bathrooms, complete with double sinks and walk-in showers. Six Grand Suites (474 sq. ft.) and an Owner’s Suite (710 sq. ft.) provide even more amenities with separate seating areas and sizable bathrooms complete with spa-like bathtubs.

The ship also provides enhanced entertainment with an onboard cinema and amenities, including a large boutique; a Zen Wellness Studio, complete with a large exercise area offering group classes focused on stretching, cardio and core strengthening and spin classes led by a professionally trained Wellness Host, a juice bar and two massage rooms, along with manicure, pedicure and hair services. There’s also a sun deck with large heated pool, relaxing whirlpool and sky bar. A first for river cruising, there’s an open-water sports platform, complete with Zodiacs, canoes and recreational equipment.

In addition to the main restaurant where complimentary wines are served at lunch and dinner, there’s the speciality ‘Chef’s Table’ where guests can watch a multi-course taster menu being prepared. AmaMagna also boasts a 35-seat Al Fresco Restaurant, located at the front of the ship with retractable windows; and ‘Jimmy’s Wine Bar Restaurant’ – a unique space where 65 guests can indulge in delicious cuisine paired with complimentary fine wines at high-top tables and in private wine rooms.
