Azamara Pursuit ... A new ship for Azamara Club Cruises
In response to passenger demand, Azamara Club Cruises has recently announced a new addition to their fleet – Azamara Pursuit. This ship is comparable in size to the company’s successful Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest. The décor will be updated to match the recent makeovers that have proved so popular aboard the company’s two original 684-passenger ships. Together, the three ships will enhance the unique ‘Destination Immersion’ concept that has proved such a hit with passengers who prefer their ships to be small and club-like.
Offering the experience of a boutique hotel at sea, Azamara Club Cruises’ ships can nudge into unique ports that larger ships are unable to reach. The annual roster of cruises features more than 200 ports, in 70 countries. The ‘Destination Immersion’ concept offers 170 late-night stays plus 114 overnights in a wide selection of ports thanks to the ‘Stay Longer and Experience More’ programme.
‘Destination Immersion’ is Azamara’s Land Discoveries programme where they schedule multiple overnight stays which allow the opportunity for some night-time exploring. This creative cruise line has also devised ‘Azamazing Evenings’; ‘Nights & Cool Places’; ‘Cruise Global, Eat Local’; and ‘Insider Access’ tours.
Featured on every cruise, the ‘Azamazing Evening’ tours are complimentary. Recent highly successful events have included a ‘Journey Back to Roman Times’ concert at the 2nd century AD Odeon Theatre at Ephesus; a night at Teatro La Fenice in Venice listening to the Venetia Antiqua Ensemble; a ‘Three Tenors’ event in Livorno; a concert in St Michael’s Cave in Gibraltar with music from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band; and a polo match at the Lion Castle Estate in Barbados.
Immersion in the deepest sense is part and parcel of ‘Insider Access’ tours which delve into local life with visits to heritage estates, family farms and local business. Recent tours have seen guests participating in a creative lithography course at Nessebar in Bulgaria; a Druze culinary workshop during a visit to Haifa; and a private visit to the Prasart Museum in Bangkok.
Azamara Pursuit’s maiden voyage will depart Southampton on 1 August 2018 and travel to eight Norwegian destinations, including Kristiansand, Flam and Haugesund, with overnight stays in Oslo and Bergen. The next voyage departs Southampton for an Iceland-intensive itinerary on 13 August, before a special christening voyage on 28 August. The ship will then depart Southampton once more on 30 August for a 13-night ‘Wine & Romance’ voyage.
