Cruise & Maritime Voyages Amazon
Cruise & Maritime Voyages is offering a 42-night adventure to the Amazon, West Indies and the Azores aboard the adults-only Magellan, sailing from London Tilbury 8 January 2020. Providing a quintessentially British cruise experience enhanced by spacious interiors and expansive wooden decks, Magellan provides a home away from home for its 1,250 guests. There’s a range of leisure facilities, including eight bars, card room and library; as well as an impressive array of whirlpools and swimming pools on deck. Dining options include the Waldorf and the Kensington Restaurants as well as the more relaxed all-day Raffles Bistro and outdoor grill at lunchtime.
The Amazon is the largest tropical rainforest and most diverse ecosystem on earth. Magellan will cruise this mighty river and discover exotic jungle, extraordinary tropical plants and an abundance of colourful wildlife. This voyage heads to Cape Verde, four sun-splashed islands in the West Indies, the infamous Îles du Salut in French Guiana, the Azores as well as the Amazon.
Highlights of the voyage include; an overnight stay at Manaus, capital of Amazonas where the Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes join to form the Amazon, at first flowing side by side without merging. In Manaus, there is the chance to see wildlife such as parrots and toucans and giant water lilies in bloom. From Santarém in the Amazonian jungle, passengers can see rubber and Brazil nut trees, and perhaps fish for piranhas at Maica Lake. Arriving in Parintins, passengers will be greeted by a mesmerising carnival of music and dance with flamboyant costumes at the Boi Bumba show. In the Caribbean, passengers relax on the white beaches of Barbados, and then in St Lucia they can discover the dramatic Pitons, La Soufrière volcano, the Diamond Baths and sulphur springs. In Antigua, Nelson’s dockyard and Clarence House at charming English Harbour are not to be missed.
This cruise will undoubtedly prove an attractive option for solo cruisers as Magellan has an array of dedicated cabin for sole occupancy. There are no fewer than 41 superior inside singles on Atlantic Deck and one on Pacific Deck; there’s also a host of superior ocean view singles on Atlantic Deck.
