MSC Seaview Christening
In early June, the newest addition to the ever-growing MSC Cruises’ fleet was christened at a glittering ceremony in Genoa. MSC Cruises is renowned for hosting the most talked about christening events that celebrate the coming into service of their new ships and this event was no exception with a star-studded ceremony with live entertainment, fireworks and gala dinner. There were also maritime traditions that are so important to MSC Cruises as a family company with a long-standing seafaring heritage. The proceedings came to a climax as Godmother - Sophia Loren - cut the ribbon to launch a bottle of champagne to name the new flagship - MSC Seaview.
The third MSC Cruises’ ship to be launched in just 12 months, MSC Seaview has been described as a game-changer. The vision was to create something truly unique that would enable guests to revel in the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. The ship is designed to enhance the enjoyment of the open water and sunshine, specifically intended to cruise in warmer climates and to create a very special connection between guests and the ocean.
The 5,179-passenger MSC Seaview features the highest ratio of outdoor spaces in the fleet - every element of the ship enables guests to enjoy the outdoors in all aspects of life on board, from cabins and suites with outdoor spaces such as terraces and balconies; eating and drinking in true Mediterranean alfresco style; to outdoor fitness and open air luxury spa cabanas. There are no fewer than ten eateries to choose from, including five sophisticated speciality restaurants; while for the perfect pre-dinner aperitif, late night drink or daytime refreshment, there is a choice of 19 bars and lounges, each with its own unique atmosphere.
Kids from 3 to 11 years of age can participate in a whole host of fun activities thanks to a partnership with Lego. MSC Seaview offers two teenagers’ clubs, one for 12-14 year olds and another for 15-17 year olds. In addition, a teens-only area serves as cinema; gaming room and disco; depending on the time of day, ensuring teenagers are always entertained. Children from 1 to 3 years old can enjoy activities and games designed in partnership with Chicco.
MSC Seaview undertakes 7-night Mediterranean cruises and offers six embarkation ports including the popular ports of Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona as well as Naples, Messina in Sicily and Valetta in Malta. This is a unique aspect of MSC Cruises but most British passengers opt to join the week-long cruises in Genoa. For more details of cruises aboard MSC Seaview call 0800 484 0370.
