The Wonders of a Mekong River Cruise

Over 2,700 miles in length, the Mekong River travels throughout the south west of Asia through China, Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), Laos, Thailand and Cambodia before it reaches Vietnam, the Mekong Delta, and eventually flowing out into the South China Sea. It really does allow you to take a trip off the beaten track.

A four part TV series began recently on BBC 2 with the host of 'The Great British Bake Off' Sue Perkins setting off on a life changing journey to discover the magnificent Mekong River. She will be taking in the sights and sounds of this vast and illuminating part of the Asian continent throughout the series, meeting various people and learning about their lives surrounded by the 'Mother of Water'.

A Mekong River cruise will transport you on a fascinating journey between some of the most desirable ports in the world including My Tho in Vietnam and Kampong Cham in Cambodia, and other ports of call such as Cu Lao Gien Island and the amazing floating markets of Cái Bè, as well as Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh with its incredible Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and truly breathtaking Buddhist temples.

Mekong River cruise tours are often combined with pre and post stay options in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Angkor Wat, allowing you plenty of time to discover even more of the culture and rich history of this beautiful region at your own pace.
