Virgin Cruises to Make Waves in Cruise Industry

You may be as excited as we are here at Cruise Direct about the recent announcement of the imminent formation of Virgin Cruises, a brand new cruise business that is expected to make waves in the cruising industry.

The company will be based in Miami and has plans to design and build some of the world’s newest first class cruise ships. Virgin Cruises will offer passengers an extraordinary experience, although their launch date is strictly under wraps for the moment.

Tom McAlpin joins the Virgin Cruise team as CEO, fresh from his position as President and CEO of The World, Residences at Sea. Previously Tom was the president of Disney Cruise Line having joined as part of the founding management team. To work on this new venture, Virgin has also teamed up with one of the world’s leading private investment firms, Bain Capital.

Virgin has built itself as a hugely respected brand in the travel industry and we have great expectations of what they will bring to the table within the cruise market.
