Day 1 - Fly from the UK to Ho Chi Minh City on an overnight flight
Day 2 - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City, still affectionately referred to by locals as Saigon, is Vietnam’s former capital.
Day 3 - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: Explore some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the former Presidential Palace, the Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and the War Remnants Museum.
Day 4 - Ho Chi Minh City: Transfer to My Tho Port to embark the AmaDara for your Mekong River cruise. Meet your fellow guests at a Welcome Dinner as the ship cruises to Cai Be.
Day 5 - Cai be, Vietnam: Take a local boat to Cai Be. Later in the day, journey to Sa Dec and visit the local market, Cao Dai Temple and the house of Mr. Huynh Thuy Le, Duras’ Chinese paramour, which her prize-winning novel, “The Lover,” is said to be based on.
Day 6 - Sa Dec, Vietnam: Take a boat ride through the narrow channels of the Mekong River to several scenic locations, including a small village known as “Evergreen Island.” Return to Tan Chau, where you will visit a rattan mat workshop.
Day 7 - Phnom Penh, Cambodia: Today, explore the highlights of Phnom Penh, followed by a visit to the Royal Palace, the spectacular Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, which has an outstanding collection of Khmer crafts.
Day 8 - Phnom Penh, Koh Chen, Cambodia: Experience Phnom Penh via an authentic tuk tuk ride and be enchanted by the city's French Colonial architecture.
Day 9 - Oudong, Cambodia and Kampong-Tralach, Cambodia: Be treated to a memorable Buddhist Blessing Ceremony at a monastery in Oudong. In Kampong Tralach, you’ll have another truly memorable excursion – an oxcart ride through a local village.
Day 10 - Kampong-Chhnang, Cambodia: A local motorboat takes you into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of Tonle Sap River. Enjoy the stunning variety of bird life here as well as tranquil floating villages and local markets in the water front.
Day 11 - Prek Kdam, Cambodia and Siem Reap, Cambodia: Your cruise comes to an end as you disembark at Prek Kdam, a small village on the Tonle River. After disembarking, transfer by motor coach to Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor and the former capital of the Khmer empire.
Day 12 - Siem Reap, Cambodia: visit the most iconic of all Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat. This intricate and massive temple complex was built by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century to honor the Hindu god, Vishnu.
Day 13 - Siem Reap, Cambodia: After breakfast, you will have a guided sightseeing tour of Angkor Thom and Bayon Temple, best known for its gigantic smiling stone faces, later, depart for your return flight back to the UK.
