Bridgetown in detail

Bridgetown in Barbados is one of the West Indies’ most popular tourist hotspots, and is definitely not a trip to miss out on! Nestled in the south west corner of the country, Bridgetown is an eclectic mix of old style colonial Barbados – where coloured houses line every street – and new technologies, shopping malls, and hotels.

As with many coastal regions, the sea and the surf are Bridgetown’s most prized possessions; take a submarine trip, watch a lights show on the harbour, and walk through the old plantation houses which are dotted around the city. Bridgetown’s main exports are sugar, molasses and rum so even today the city bears the character of a lovely industrial town.

One thing’s for sure – whatever sort of holiday you’re planning, a stopover in this beautiful city is not a chance to be passed up.
