Regent Seven Seas Cruises Names New Ship, Coming 2020

Luxury cruise company, Regent Seven Seas, has announced that its newest ship will be named Seven Seas Splendor.

Back in September a sweepstake was held where travel agents, passengers and employees were asked to submit their ideas. There were 14,000 submissions with more than 2,600 unique names.

The new vessel is due to set sail in 2020 - four years after the introduction of Seven Seas Explorer.

RSSC president and chief executive, Jason Montague, said: “The naming of a ship is an important milestone in maritime tradition and it is my pleasure to announce that the name of Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ new ship to launch in 2020 is Seven Seas Splendor.

“The extraordinary demand for Seven Seas Explorer has reinforced our decision to expand our fleet and Seven Seas Splendor will offer guests a fifth option that will provide unforgettable experiences in the world’s most compelling destinations, with the incredibly high standards of luxury and service that lure guests back again and again.”

Details of the ship’s inaugural season have yet to be announced.
