Built in 2014, Norwegian Cruise Line's incredible Norwegian Getaway sails to the Caribbean all year round from her home port of Miami

Norwegian Cruise Line has been an innovator in cruising throughout its 49-year history. Most notably, NCL revolutionised the cruise industry by offering guests the freedom and flexibility to design their ideal cruise on their schedule aboard some of the newest and most contemporary ships at sea. The 3,963-passenger Norwegian Getaway, which entered service in 2014, was the first ship in the fleet to incorporate the Waterfront, an innovative, quarter-mile oceanfront promenade of dining venues, bars, cafés and shopping options designed to connect guests with the ocean. Highlights of the Waterfront include the metallic palm tree-lined Sugarcane Mojito Bar serving a variety of minty cocktails, while at the Flamingo Bar & Grill, classic Cuban food specialities are the order of the day.
Inside this impressive ship there are three connecting decks of daytime and night time entertainment at 678 Ocean Place where each level offers bustling bars, nightlife, shopping and dining. On deck there are three decks full of activities ranging from extreme to serene. For those looking for an adrenalin rush they can take the plunge on five waterslides including ‘Free Fall’ - the fastest drop slide at sea; or put on a harness and hit the ropes course, where challenges include walking ‘The Plank’ which extends 8 feet over the side of the ship.
With its Victorian decor, the Illusionarium is an atmospheric dinner show which features magicians, illusionists, and mentalists performing with special effects. The GRAMMY Experience hosts performances by Grammy Award-winning musicians who are invited on board to play in this special setting. Broadway-calibre entertainment can be discovered at every turn. At the Headliners Comedy Club there are performances by the Levity Entertainment Group's roster of top-notch comedians, while the Tony Award-winning musical ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ showcases an extraordinary twist of fate that brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together for one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. The sizzling ‘Burn the Floor’ show is a non-stop display of movement and style based on the world-renowned Broadway show; while the musical ‘Legally Blonde’ is every bit as enjoyable at the West End version.
With its Miami overtones, Norwegian Getaway has upped the ante in the culinary stakes. We particularly recommend the speciality dining, nowhere more so than Ocean Blue - under the supervision of US celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian – where the Dover sole has to be the best at sea; as well as the Chef’s Table – a foodie’s haven where the nine-course tasting menu rivals many acclaimed restaurants on shore.
