One of the smaller, intimate ships in Thomson Cruises fleet, the Thomson Celebration was refurbished with new features and facilities in 2013.

With a similar pedigree to Thomson Spirit, this 1,264-passenger ship began life at Holland America Line’s Noordam which first entered service in 1985. The ship underwent a refurbishment in 2005 when it joined the Thomson Cruises’ fleet; while a makeover in 2013 saw the introduction of 20 balcony cabins and the arrival of the Coffee Port in the Explorer's Lounge - one of the Wi-Fi hotspots around the ship. Thomson Celebration has an excellent selection of dining options, particularly the Hot Stones Grill at the Terrace Grill and Kora La Asian Restaurant - the latter introduced in 2014.
All cabins come with air-conditioning; flat-screen TVs; hairdryer; as well as tea and coffee-making facilities. There are 10 categories of accommodation. These range from 139 to 172 sq ft Inside and Outside cabins; 204 sq ft Deluxe cabins; 279 to 290 sq ft Suites as well as a 450 sq ft two-room Presidential Suite. All Deluxe cabins on Deck 9 have balconies and Suites on Decks 7 and 9 have an attractive trellis-style room divider. There are also Inside and Outside cabins on Decks 2 and 3; and four cabins, forward on Deck 7 are wheelchair accessible.
The spacious waiter-service Meridian Restaurant is warmly decorated and offers open-seating breakfast, lunch and dinner. With interiors that echo the exotic menu, Kora La serves authentic Asian dishes. Guests who want to indulge themselves head to the intimate Mistral’s Restaurant where modern British cooking is fused with hints of French cuisine. The Lido Restaurant has indoor and outdoor dining areas and offers a good choice of hot and cold meals, from cooked breakfasts to lunchtime carvery; as well as casual dinners and late-night snacks. During the day the outdoor Terrace Grill serves freshly-cooked omelettes at breakfast; lunches of salads, pizzas and pastas; while at night guests can cook steaks to perfection on hot stones.
The entertainment team host a range of daily activities, including poolside trivia, live music and demonstrations such as cocktail-making and ice-carving. There's bingo, golf putting challenges, and shuffleboard. The ship's two-tier Broadway Theatre stages shows such as ‘Pop Goes the West End’ and ‘Cameron's Classics’, which feature a range of Cameron Mackintosh classics, from shows such as ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘Oliver’ and ‘Mary Poppins’.
We like many of the bars on board, especially Hemingway’s, Liberties and Horizons. There are two pools - the family Lido pool on Deck 5 and the adults-only pool on Deck 8. For a ship of this size, Oceans Spa & Beauty Salon feels large with five treatment rooms where therapists offer a section of massages, from Swedish to Hot Stone, Shiatsu and Lymphatic Drainage.
