- Carnival Horizon
The story of Carnival Cruise Line is the sort of drama Hollywood would never touch because it seems unbelievable. It’s a rags-to-riches tale that tore the lid off popular myths about cruising and introduced a generation of young people to the concept that cruising is far from stuffy. Next year will see the introduction of Carnival Horizon – the 26th ship in this fleet of ‘fun ships’ which has the tag ‘Sea meets Sky meets Sun meets Fun’. Embarking Carnival Horizon will be thrilling, like stepping into a fusion of Las Vegas, Miami Beach and Alton Towers. Conveying 3,930 passengers, it will be a sister-ship to Carnival Vista with many of the same cutting-edge features that are changing the calculus of cruising.
Inside cabins range from 160 to 170 sq ft; Balcony cabins and Cove Balcony cabins come in at 185 sq ft; Oceanview cabins are a sizeable 220 sq ft; while there are 275 sq ft Family Harbour Cove cabins and Ocean Suites; as well as 345 sq ft Grand Ocean Suites. Located near the members-only Havana Bar & Pool, Havana cabins feature a unique décor; Havana Cabana cabins have an extra-large balcony; while Havana Cabana Suites come with a rain shower.
The larger of the two main dining rooms - Reflections offers open seating breakfast and lunch and two fixed dinner seatings; ‘Your Time Dining’ is available in Horizons – menus in both feature select items from the onboard steakhouse available for a supplement. Other eateries without supplement include: Pizzeria del Capitano; Guy's Burger Joint; BlueIguana Cantina; Mongolian Wok; the Pasta Bar; and Fresh Creations salad bar -available on sea days. The ship’s buffet – Lido Marketplace is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Liquid Lounge is a multi-purpose venue, designed specifically for the line's four signature special effects Playlist Productions song-and-dance shows. There also an array of bars where the action lasts late into the night, these include: Limelight Lounge; SkyBox Sports Bar; Alchemy Bar; Piano Bar 88; Library Bar; RedFrog Rum Bar; the Casino Bar; and the Horizon Atrium Bar which is dominated by Dreamscape, a LCD screen with slowly changing digital images.
We think this new ship is ideal for families as it has three separate kids' clubs, a water park and Dr Seuss-themed programming. Parents will love the Family Harbour section of cabins where they get exclusive access to the dedicated lounge, which offers breakfast, snacks and ice cream all day long. The lounge also offers baby-sitting service, films, video games and board games by Hasbro.
