Hamburg in detail

Vibrant, multicultural Hamburg is Germany’s biggest port and wealthiest city. It was a trading bloc in the middle ages and has never been able to shake the influx of intrigued visitors!

Although many visitors to Germany naturally think of Munich and Berlin, Hamburg is a firm favourite with the nationals and is fast becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations too. From the gloriously majestic city hall and church to old warehouses sitting along the waterside, there is so much to discover. Many people choose to take a boat tour along the canal or in the harbour to see the bright lights for themselves.

In terms of activities, Hamburg provides for every type of tourist all throughout the day and into the night. The city plays host to Europe’s biggest red light district with a huge array of exciting new clubs and bars. Not your thing? Not a problem – stroll along one of the harbour’s famous beaches or duck into a street café, quaint museum or visit the city’s famous zoo.
