Greenock in detail

Greenock is a gorgeous, quintessentially Scottish city in the central lowlands of the country. With a fairly small population of around 45,000, you can expect a beautifully peaceful visit to complement some of the busier UK destinations.

As with many other UK industrial cities, much effort is being made to restore some of Greenock’s more neglected spots and scenes to their former glory. The most important facet of Greenock’s tradition and history has to be its beautiful waterfront, which was unfortunately allowed to fall into disrepair. Since 2007, however, things in Greenock have been on the up, and the stunning factory spaces along the riverside – including building such as sugar refineries – are slowly being renovated. Some are even being turned into housing and adapted with environmentally friendly technologies. One thing’s for sure – a visit to Greenock is interesting from all sorts of perspectives.
