    Bari in detail

    Nestled on Italy’s eastern coastline in the beautiful region of Puglia is Bari, a colourful city packed with charm. Bari is a University city meaning it is filled with young and enthusiastic people (who seem to have brought all the most up to date services and facilities with them!). Having said that, Bari became a city as long ago as 300 BC and so boasts a huge wealth of history and culture that can be explored in many different ways.

    It’s often recommended to explore Bari on foot (although there are lots of local buses, too). As well as the fantastic Old Town the city is home to one of Italy’s most famous churches, the Basilica di San Nicola, where the remains of Saint Nicholas are said to still lie in a crypt.
    Bari is also popular because of its town squares, or Piazzas, which are great places to stop for lunch and have lots of outside tables on which to do so.
